Best Friends Forever! - Bangkok Day 5

Bangkok, Thailand

This is my 5th post about our graduation trip to Thailand. You can view the other posts as follow..

Day 1 - Phuket

Day 2 - Phuket (Sea Kayaking to Phang Nga Bay)

Day 3 - Bangkok

Day 4 - Bangkok (Grand Palace)

We booked the Elephant Village and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market tour with the same travel guide who brought us around the Grand Palace. The whole tour package costs 1800 Baht for 3 pax. I was really excited about the tour because I have never ride on an elephant in my life before and I would really love to see the old style local way of living in this vibrant floating market.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is situated about 100km southwest of Bangkok. It is approximately 2 hours drive from Bangkok to Damnern Saduak Floating Market.

We visited the Elephant Village first which is close to the Floating Market. Each elephant has their master and the trip will follow a path through the jungle and lasts about 20 minutes.

Taking our time to settle down on the elephant and the man in the blue shirt and black hat is the master of the elephant. I looked a bit overwhelmed here cos I am SCARED OF HEIGHTS and the safety belt doesn't seem to secure us well.

We are finally moving off after some screaming.

The elephant was very obedient and listened to the master to pose with us.

The master helped us to spam photos. The jungle was pretty smelly cos it was filled with the elephant poo-poo almost everywhere.

The elephant also followed through a path of man-made river and there was a lot of mosquitoes.

Making our way back to the pick-up station. The master stopped halfway during the trip and asked us to buy his home-made souvenirs. The souvenirs were overpriced and unattractive to us so we declined it. The master was pissed and instructed the elephant to rush back. How can liddat man?

We bought the bananas to feed the elephant. I look hesitated to feed the elephant cos I was a bit scared.

Happy Girl No.1: "Yeah!! I did it!!"

Happy Girl No.2: "Yeah!! I did it too!!"

3 Happy Girls: "Yeah!! We have finally ride elephants in our life".

I have ride donkey in Greece and elephant in Thailand so far and I hope I could get to ride a horse one day! ;)

Next, we went to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

Do Re Mi. 3 best friends for life! :D

Aha! The bustling and colorful floating market which is so uniquely Thai.

Must take the long tail boat trip around the floating market when you are here!

"Emo" Girl No.1 - Me!!

Cool Girl No.2 - Cindy!!

Demure Girl No.3 - Si Qi!!

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is also known as the "Venice of the East" by the early European visitors. I have also been to the real Venice in Italy and you can see the post here.

We tried the noodle from one of the stalls which was really YUM YUM.

The portion was small so we ordered 3 more different flavors. NICE!~

Enjoying our lunch after a long and tiring day.

End of Day 5. ;)
